About Me

I grew up in London to a mixed background; my mother is Turkish and my father Swiss.  I spent my childhood summers in Turkey living off a diet of fresh fruit, vegetable dishes known as “zeytinyaglis”, and daily local caught fish.  It was here that my interest in nutrition and wellbeing was sparked.  After studying economics at university, I landed a job in the City and worked harder than ever for most of my twenties.  Waking up at 5.30am to be on the trading floor by 6:30am, I was left exhausted and saw first-hand how stress, little sleep and poor nutrition would have a huge impact on physical and mental performance.  One winter, I came down with a bad case of shingles, an illness usually reserved for the elderly, not a 25 year old; a reaction that, now looking back, was my immune system saying enough is enough.

It was only after I left finance, got married and started a family that I found I had the time to start reading and learning more about my true passion: health and wellness.  After reading numerous articles and books about gut health and the microbiome, I was hungry for more.  I enrolled myself on a short course in nutrition followed by a three year diploma and am now a registered naturopathic nutritional therapist.

In my practice, I cover a broad range of health conditions including digestive health such as IBS, skin issues such as acne and eczema, hormonal imbalances including PCOS and endometriosis, food sensitivities, autoimmunity as well as weight loss.  I believe that a true state of health comes from eating the types of food that are right for you, while maintaining a positive attitude towards nutrition.

Experience

I studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London where I had 2 years of clinical experience before starting my own practice in central London.  I consult children, men and women of all ages and provide personalised nutrition and lifestyle advice with a view to promoting optimal health and supporting wellness.

As a nutritional therapist, my belief is that the body’s self healing mechanisms are best supported over the long term through dietary as well as lifestyle change.  I will prescribe supplements if I deem them to be beneficial in the short term.  In my practice, I will also often recommend functional testing to identify any physiological imbalances or nutrient deficiencies in order to understand any root causes driving conditions.

I believe that nutrition is not a “one-size-fits-all” science and keep an individual approach to each client, so I can achieve optimum results for their state of well-being.  My aim is to deliver realistic and achievable yet measurable protocols based on my client’s lifestyle.  If a client has a hectic work or travel schedule, I will take that into account and create a plan accordingly.  In addition, I give advice on lifestyle measures such as exercise and sleep which I believe are integral to living a vibrant, dynamic and healthy life.

In addition to my own practice, I sit on the Advisory Board of a Venture Capital fund and I am a consultant nutritionist to a few food and beverage companies.
